Parent Discussion Board
Helping you cope is critical to helping your child cope with diabetes. We strongly recommend that you reach out for some type of support from others: family and friends, professionals, or from others going through the same thing you are.
Joslin sponsors a professionally moderated discussion board for the parents of children and teens with diabetes. It is a safe place to ask questions, express frustration, and trade advice with others who may be going through similar challenges.
These boards are supported, in part, through the Katherine Adler Astrove Youth Education Fund at Joslin.
Meet the Moderators
The discussion boards are professionally moderated by members of the Joslin Pediatiric and Adolscent Unit. Moderators include Debbie Butler, M.S.W., Lori Laffel, M.D., M.P.H., and Margie Lawlor, C.D.E.
Debbie Butler, M.S.W., a member of the Joslin Pediatric and Adolescent Unit, moderates the parent discussion board. Ms. Butler has a master’s in social work from Boston University and extensive experience working with children, teens and adults with diabetes, as well as their family members. She is also involved in running our support groups for parents and children. The Internet is a way to extend that support to more families.
She can respond to your questions and ensure that the information on this site is appropriate and reliable.
