Justin Lupone, Coordinator, Nephrology

I started at Joslin Diabetes Center in May of 2012 as an intern in Clinic Administration working with the Clinical Operations Vice President Bridget Stewart.  I was in my junior year at the University Of New Hampshire (UNH) majoring in Health Management & Policy (HMP), and each student was required to complete a summer internship.  I had a strong interest in diabetes in mind when looking for an internship due to a high prevalence of Diabetes in my family.

I saw Bridget Stewart speak at a UNH networking event heard that she was looking for an intern, applied, interviewed and was lucky enough to be asked to join the team.  I worked with Bridget off and on for the remainder of my college career and was asked to come on full time as a Medical Office Coordinator in the Adult Diabetes clinic in May of 2013.

I worked in the Adult Diabetes Clinic as a type of liaison between the patient, the provider, the insurance company and the pharmacy.  I was in Adult Diabetes for 11 months working with Dr. Hamdy and the Krall team which was great; I enjoyed being a problem solver for both the patient and the provider.

In April of 2014, I moved to the Renal Unit and became the Nephrology Unit Coordinator and have been here since.  I really enjoy my new position, I work with our 4 Nephrologists here at Joslin and we, as a team, take care of the Joslin Patients in need of Renal care.

Joslin Diabetes Center is a great place to work for two reasons: one, Joslin is a great team atmosphere where you work with amazing people to ensure the patient gets the best possible care here in the Clinic, and the patient truly does come first always.  Two, if you work hard and are committed to the Mission here at Joslin there are great opportunities and room for growth.

We have a great team of employees who are fun to work with, and every now and then there is a patient who comes along who touches your heart and makes everything we do here worth every minute.
